The current methods of planning and identifying incision sites are inconsistent and difficult. Over half of all spinal surgeons have operated on the wrong vertebra [1]. Localization difficulties are evident in various types of surgical procedures, from finding arteries, to placing bone screws. When surgeons identify locations of interest using a medical scan, they are dependent upon palpating for bony landmarks and eyeballing distances to find the site on the patient during the operation.
The Target Tape™ surgical aid is a general, multi-purpose device, which is compatible with countless procedures that use pre or intra-operative imaging.
